This past week as a Nation we celebrated Dr King’s Birthday, and Delaware’s Governor asked us to remember his message of service to community. But there was another message he shared that those in the business round table, and the Governor’s Rodel and Vision friends have maybe forgotten. I saw this message this morning as I was getting ready to take my son’s back to college after winter break. I believe that message is as relevant today as when he said it, and yet some have forgotten it:
“Education which stops with efficiency may prove the greatest menace to society. . . . We must remember that intelligence is not enough. Intelligence plus character — that is the goal of true education.” Dr. Martin Luther King
Until we address all the issues of our children today we are not serving them by teaching them Math and English to pass a test!
