“Math mistake sees hundreds of teachers laid off”

This was a headline today from the CNN website that caught my eye. I am attaching a link to it here http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/10/17/dallas.schools/index.html What is scary is that our own state is facing the same crisis as this one district. The 19 districts in Delaware this past year fought hard to keep the cuts going any deeper then they could of, but I don’t see this coming year as that luckY! The candidates and many others continue to point at Vision 2015 for the saving grace for Delaware Education. I am sure I’m not the only one to believe that for Vision 2015 to work there are three key issues that must be corrected by whom ever sits in the Governors mansion. First, without cutting the waste out of the state government from the top on down increasing funding just funnels away. Second, the teachers union (DSEA) needs to realize that what occurred in Dallas is likely here unless they come off there high horse and work with districts so everyone can keep their jobs! The last key part is what all the candidates are afraid to talk about and that is unless the state finds a way to raise revenue it will continue to lose in the battle with more going out then coming in! The elections may decide who sits in Dover, but 2009 will not be easy for Education in Delaware.
