Milford Central Academy-update

On Sept 8th, the board met briefly to review the final drawings with the architects before submittal to the state for final approval. The discussions centered around a problem all districts working on capital projects will be facing due to the states methods for funding. Because the district went to the state almost two years ago with plans for the Academy, and now the costs of materials, such as steel, and labor, have all gone up almost 2 fold! Guess what the district must look for ways to cover these increases by cutting out parts of the building that gave it the character the board was looking for. We hope that maybe the district can go back to our legislators to cover these increases as the district saved $4 million by using existing land in the district. Overall, no matter what the outcome the new Academy will be something for the community to be proud of. The evening ended with a reminder about the re-dedication of the new stadium on Friday 9/12.
One quick note about the 9/10 DSBA meeting to other board members. Ask about upcoming opportunities to attend regional conferences from your representatives or call Sue @ DSBA.
